Smells the Roses: Grateful

This weeks smell the roses challenge was to think of ten things you are grateful for, and it really got me thinking. It is never really something that comes to my mind and it honestly took a bit of thinking but here is my list (in no particular order).

1. health, other than a few minor things I have never had any serious health problem.
2. job, I am so grateful that I was able to find a job that I enjoy and that pays well.
3. education, to many people at my high school (including myself) going to college is just assumed. But I often forget that to some people an education isn't always available. I am so grateful that I am able to continue my education in college.
4. family, I have an amazingly supportive, loving, giving, and patient family.
5. boyfriend, I am so lucky to have met the love of my life so young. We have been able to experience so many milestones together (prom, high school graduation, college) and will hopefully share many more.
6. senior year, to some people my senior year of high school wouldn't seem ideal. I lost alot of people who I thought were my friends, but didn't end up being true friends in the end. I am grateful that I got out of these toxic friendships when I did.
7.creativity, I don't know how it happened but somehow I was given the gift of creativity. It has helped me form hobbies and build friendships. My love for design lead me to yearbook which is where I made great friends and had a lot of learning experiences.
8. patience, some how I was given the gift of patience as well. I think it is the main reason people think I will be a good teacher some day.
9. mom, even though I already mentioned family, my mom has helped me though a lot of tough times, and she is always there for me when I need some retail theapy.
10. coffee, on a not so serious note, thank you coffee for helping me through early morning at work and 8 am classes.

  1. I love that you included creativity and coffee!
Both wonderful things that I didn't think to put on my list :)

  2. I did this too!
Number 3 is so true. I never even considered not going to college.
I think senior year is overrated in some ways. I loved every minute of it at the time and I am happy for those experiences, but looking back you actually notice that you may have spent the "best year of your life" with not the best people in some cases. I think everyone is really influenced by other people in high school in a lot of ways and it makes maintaining friendships hard.
And I agree with Jessica about the creativity one. Not many people are and its a lucky thing to have.
I totally considered having a separate one for my mom too… and I almost put Starbucks and Biggby as one!
