New desk; Finally

{Before}
Please notice the teal color with hot pink knobs left over from my pink, orange, and teal room of 2nd-4th grade. The drawers were kinda scary, so I decided to not embarrass my self and post those pictures.

{After}
Thank you Crate and Barrel for creating and inexpensive {299} and open leg desk. It's big enough to do homework on, but not overpowering my room. The new chair is hopefully coming soon, plastic Ikea just isn't cutting it anymore. The drawers are surprisingly roomy and have lots of spots for storage. {My favorite is the section perfectly sized for my post-it notes}. On top of the desk I used a monogram mug from Anthropologie and glass spice jars from Crate and Barrel.

{ps; yes I did hand select the purple push pins and paper clips from the container}

Mermaid Nails

Please ignore my messy polish skills (I am the worst nail painter ever) but I wanted to try out the mermaid nails that emily posted on cupcakes and cashmere. And, I'm in love. So fun and summery. I want to try it with coral with gold glitter and other fun combos.

Babies

2 weeks ago a 305 pound baby elephant was born at the Toledo Zoo. He doesn't have a name just yet, but everyone is still very eager to meet him, especially me. I waited in line to see him but was disappointed not to get a picture, so I had to go back for more. This little guy walking around and trying to use at 2 weeks old was the most amazing and adorable thing I've ever seen.

Teaching: Mini Society

This past week I worked with special needs kids on their mini society project. During mini society all the 4th graders establish and run a business. I worked with an ELL student as well as an autistic child to help them manage their tattoo and face painting business. It was a great experience for me since I've never worked with kids with special needs before. Some of the things they did were so silly, and sometimes they got into arguments but I was able to handle it. It really opened my eyes to a new side of teaching, but for now I think I'll stick with my plan of early childhood education, Kindergarten is where I belong.

Oh! The Places You'll Go

Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)

-Dr. Seuss
