Trash or treasure?

This weekend I am getting new carpet in my bedroom and had to clean out all of my stuff and move it to the basement. In the process I rediscovered all my old collages and an art project from school. They have been stashed behind my dresser for a year or two and honestly I had forgotten about them. So here's the dilemma....should I keep them or pitch them?

I remember in high school spending hours on the weekend going through my stacks of magazines pulling looks and arranging my boards. They were all around my room and served as outfit inspiration for me. But as the styles have aged and so have I, I no longer look to them for inspiration. But because I have such great memories of them, making and gazing I can't help but want to hold onto my "art".

{My art project for commercial art, I was going through a huge Balmain and Alexander Wang phase}
{I was obsessed with her hippie headband and curls}
{The giant (4 poster board size) collage that hung on my wall}
I would love your advice....pitch them or keep them? What are your thoughts on sentiments? Are you one to hold onto everything, or do you throw everything away?

  1. I hold on to almost everything. But collages, unless they are super important and consistently inspirational, I get rid of them.

  2. I used to hold on to nearly everything. I still do, to some extent, but since my husband and I got married and moved halfway across the country, I've learned it's totally not practical to keep every single thing. I'd say maybe pick your favorite, the one you feel most sentimental about, and keep it! :)
